Pope Francis was born on 17th December 1936 in Bueno Aires, Argentina. He had been a priest since 1969, but became Pope in 2013. He is the first Jesuit to be elected as Pope, as well as the first Pope in Catholic history who has the name Francis.
Pope Francis studied for a Master’s Degree in Chemistry, even though some may think he studied Theology. He even used to teach the subject in high schools. In his pre-priest days, he used to work as a bouncer in a bar in Buenos Aires.
